MEAT RATIONS INCREASED.

LONDON, May is. The Food Ministry announces that owing to larger arrivals of frozen meat, eightpence worth of meat instead ot sixpence worth may now be purchased in respect to each of the two weekly coupons,yhich each person is allowed. The Committee on National Expenditure reports that the bread subsidy costs £40,000,000 annually. It also expresses dissatisfaction at the overstaffing of the War Office, which lias increased from 113 at tho outset of the war to 1516 last month.
