PEBSONAL NOTES

Mrs A. R. Kitching, of Wellington, ias received word that her socond son, Sergeant George K. Kitching, of the Australian Force, was wounded in the neck and arm in the recent operations in Palestine. Mrs Kitching's youngest son, Charles, who had been, engnged in the mercantile marine, has joined the Canadian Flying Corps, and passed his examinations.

Mrs Howard Jones, of Levin, has received hews of tho death of her brother. Trooper J. H. Davies, who was killed in action in Palestine. Trooper Davies was a veteran soldier, having served in 'different fields of action since the beginning of the war. He enlisted with the Glamorgan Yeomanry, and was wounded in France in the early fighting. subsequently going to Egypt and being engaged against the Senussi. He went through the whole of the campaign in Palestine, and was with the advance guard that entered Beersheba. He made the supreme sacrifice in tho recent raid on the railway line east of the Jordan.

Rifleman C. S. Thorburn (killed) was assistant clerk at the Magistrate's Conrt, Gisbornc, for five months prior

to his enlisting with the 17th Reinforcements, in May, 1916. His mother resides at Thames.

Private Piercy Charles Williamson, (killed) was the third son of Mr Martin Williamson, of Wellington, and was -1 years of age. Before enlisting lie was emploj'ed at tho Dominion Electric Light Works at Tikorangi. He left with the 23th Reinforcements.

Lieutenant G. B. Dall, Royal Engineers, who was admitted last month to the Bth Red Cross Hospital, Boulogne, suffering severely from mustard shell gas poisoning, is now in hospital in London, and is progressing favourably. Lieutenant Dall is a son of Mr G. B. Dall, Assistant-Secretary Post and Telegraph Department, Wellington.

Private Robert Cochrane (killed) was a son of Mr James Cochrane, Wakanui. He was educated at the Wakanui school, and prior to enlisting was engaged on his lather's farm, lio left with tho 27tli Reinforcements.

Mrs L. Brown, 97 St. Asaph street, Cliristchurch, has received word that her husband, Private S. Brown (late of Tinwakl), was removed from the soriously to tho dangerously ill list on May 10th, and transferred to the Bth General Hospital, Rouen to have his left leg amputated.

Private E. 4 N. (Frank) McGec (killed) was formerly employed in the Napier Railway Workshops. He was a son of Mr W. G. Mcuiee, foreman of the Anchor Steamship Co., Nelson, and brother of Mr Alexander McGee, Napier, and lelt New Zealand with tho st.li Roinforcemcnts. In his private lifu in Napier he took a prominent interest in tho St. John Ambulance Brigade, and the Te Awa Swimming Club. He was thirty-five years of age.

Mr W. G. K. Kenrick, S.M., has received a cable mcssnge stating that liis second son. Lieut, il. Selwya KcnricK, has been wounded in the arm and side, though not dangerously. Lieut. Kcnrick left with the 19th Reinforcements, and has been twelve months in the lighting line. He took part in the battle of Passohendaele.
