Generations of peoplo hare employed hot water as a soother of pain in tho stomach, but modern physicians and specialists havo discovered and used successfully an addition which rondel's thn hot water trebly efficacious. Hot water is stilt recommended in all cases of stomach pain, from whatever causc arising, but still better results are obtained if a little bisurated magnesia is added. • Hot water attracts blood to tho painful part, and the bisurated magnesia neutralises the acid, which is usually tho underlying cause of tha pain. That is why such excellent results follow combination of the two. Readers who are subject to pain in the stomach, especially after eatmg, should try this hot water and magnesia recipe. It renders dieting quite unnecessary, for by slowly drinking half a glassful oi hot water containing half a teaspoonful of bisurated magnesia immediately after meals, the dangerous stomac'j acifls are destroyed; .and food remains bland and sweet until perfectly digested. Tho bisurated magnesia, which is extensively used in hospitals, can readily bo obtained from chemists everywhere; but to avoid, confusion with the acetates, citrates, and oxides of magnesia, or equally unsuitable mixtures of bismuth and magnesia, it is important that bisurated should be asked for very distinctly.
