THE FALLEN AND

WOUNDED.

PERSONAL NOTES

The executive of the Canterbury Patriotic Fund, upon the motion of the •chairman (Mr H. Holland), yesterday passed a motion of condolcnce with Mr George Harper and family in their rcccnt bereavement. Mr Hollaud said Mr Harper had lost two sons at tho front, and another had died recently at Home. Mr W. N. Seay, headmaster of the Addington School, received private advice yesterday stating that his third 'son, Gunner Gordon D. Seay, aged 23, had been killed in action.

Mr W. J. Jenkins, Fairview, Waddington, has received advice that his son, Private Malcolm E. Jenkins, has been slightly wounded, but is remaining with his unit. Private Jenkins left with the Main Body, and saw service on Gallipoli. This is the sccond time he has been wounded.

Mrs J. Chambers, Wakanui, has received advice that her son, Private Isaac Chambers, was gassed and admitted to hospital in France on April 27th. He had been previously wounded, but had returned to the firing line.

Mr A. Macpherson, Fields Supervisor, Department of. Agriculture, lias received advice that, his son, Lieut. Alister Ewen Macpherson, who was wounded in action in Franco on April oth, rejoined his unit on the 14th inst., after spending a fortnight's furlough in Scotland. •

Though details are lacking, and there is no official confirmation, there doos not seem any reason to doubt the report that Albert Cotter, the famous Australian fast bowler, has fallen 'Ji action (writes an English correspondent). Cotter waa the fastest Australian bowler since tho days of Spofforth but •ho was scarcely in the latter's class.

Mrs S. Brown, 97 St. Asaph street, has received word that her husband, Private S. Brown (late of Tinwald),has been wounded in the thigh and admitted to No. 3 Stationary Hospital, seriously ill. Private Brown left with the 28th Reinforcements.
