CITIZENS' BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Citizens' Benevolent Association was held in the City Council Chamber yesterday morning, tho Mayor (Mr H. Holland) presiding over » good attendance. Tho annual statement was presented by tho Rev. F. Rule. The receipts were:' —Bala-nco from previous year, £186 6d; interest, £227 Gs 4d; total, £il3 7s lOd. The expenditure was £126, leaving a balanoe of £287 7s lod. Tho statement was received. • Mr Rule said that the members should husband the fund carefully, as without being unduly pessimistic, he anticipated a heavy drain after the war.
Mr Holland said-ho was in thorough sympathy with Mr Rule's remarks. It was decided that the Mayor bo requested to endeavour to obtain a stock of coal at once, and to insert in the papers advertisements inviting tenders for blankets. The election of officers resulted as follows Chairman, M r H. Holland; secretary, Miss Cardale; treasurer, Rev. F. Rul®! com» mittee, Meedames Malcolm, Wilson, Green, Bilcliffe, Spiers, Christie, Watson, Sisters Marion, Edith, Walton, Annie, Grace, Annie Tccker, Catherine, and Emily, Revs. F. Rule, J. Cocker, and H. A. Job, with power to add.
