CITIZENS' BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Citizens' Benevolent Association was held in the City Council Chamber yesterday morning, tho Mayor (Mr H. Holland) presiding over » good attendance. Tho annual statement was presented by tho Rev. F. Rule. The receipts were:' —Bala-nco from previous year, £186 6d; interest, £227 Gs 4d; total, £il3 7s lOd. The expenditure was £126, leaving a balanoe of £287 7s lod. Tho statement was received. • Mr Rule said that the members should husband the fund carefully, as without being unduly pessimistic, he anticipated a heavy drain after the war.

Mr Holland said-ho was in thorough sympathy with Mr Rule's remarks. It was decided that the Mayor bo requested to endeavour to obtain a stock of coal at once, and to insert in the papers advertisements inviting tenders for blankets.
