AMBERLEY MARKET. The fortnightly stock sale was Held yesterday, when there was a yarding of 29u0 sheep, of which. 2000 were fats. Advice has been, received from Australia to the effect that tho major portion of currants bought some time ago is not allowed by the fruit inspector to lie shipped to New Zealand, owing to inferior quality. As a result, the quantities coming l to New Zealand will be very much curtailed. A BIG DEAL. An Auckland correspondent of tho Dunedin "Star" writes:—l have heard on very excellent authority that tho Auckland Farmers' Union Trading Company (tho general ■manager of which is Mr Logan Donald, an old Otneo High School boy) have purchiised tho well-known business of Laidlaw Leeds and Co., the price paid, it is eaid, being in the vicinity of £200,000.

THE CONDEMNED POTATOES. (rKESS ASSOCIATION telegram.) DUNEDIN, May 13.
