GREYMOUTH, May 11. 2>ii-appointment was expressed in both election camps that the Rcgi*- , trar of Electors did not receive th# | official telegram notifying that til® writ had been issued, yesterday Witil : after (5 o'clock last night. A number of claims for enrolment wore thus shut out, as the organisers relied on the custom of notification being received , early in the day and their being notified as to the final hour for closing the roll. Tho official telegram was put in at Wellington at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon,; but did not reach f)reynioutb till aft*' 6 o'clock, and it was near 7 o'clock Wtfore it was delivered into tho hand* d the Registrar.

GREYMOUTH, May ll.: Tho announcement of tho issuo of tM writ for tho Grey election caught both sides napping, and a number of mow* in hand were excluded from the'roll* Both Hides, however j had beetf baty and a thousand names will appear «n the supplementary roll. Mr Coatees committee were specially active in enrolling electors. All doubts as to Mr Coateß'g;candi* daturo have now been removed, and i«| has definitely indicated that he will, stand as a Liberal, supporting tho Government war policy.
