OUR BOYS.

Relatives of soldiers whose names have Sypeared in the honours lists or the casualty lists, should send the sol' diers* portraits to the "Weekly Press," if they wish to have theni reproduced in an illustrated newspaper. When sending in a portrait there are four essentials to be remembered —1, To state the rank, initials, and name of the soldier, and the town or district tie belongs to; 2, the nature of his award, or his casualty; 3. the full address to which the portrait is to be 'returned ; 4, address thophotograpli to "The Editor, the 'Weekly Press,' Christchurch."

A Sydney paper states that a young man, a visitor, when out shooting, shot at a parrot. He shot the bird at a distance of about 90 yards. The bullet, one from n .Remington repeating rifle, travelled on 200 yards and i struck a-girl, Vera Thewc, in tho neck, it also wont through tlie 'arm of a child, a year and nine months old, the girl was carrying. Thb buliot entered tho child's wrist, and went out at tho elbow. Neither the girl nor the child was seriously injured. It may not be generally known that New Zealand has a natural cure for the various types of objectors to military service. In one of the older treatises on the mineral waters of JRotorua (writes "Mercutio" in the Auckland i: Herald"') it is laid down that among other things, the Priest baths cure a chronic condition of cold feet. The work was written before lack of circulation in the extremities had com© to hare a sinister meaning, but it is not improbable that even now a course of liotorua would do the objectors a lot of good, especially if returned soldiers were placed in charge of the treatment. As it is. wo set our objectors to plant trees. It is to be hoped their complaint is not catching. "Cold feet"' or "wet feet 5 ' is a term used by horticulturists to describe a condition, induced by a stiff subsoil and lack of drainage, which will kill., any tree.
