LAND FOR RETURNED SOLDIERS.
TO THE EDITOR OF 4< THE PRESS.'' t . Sir,—Mr Green has much right on Lis side, m spite of "Farmer's" letter or to-aay. Finance experts the' world over tell as that the war will be followed by several years of great prosperity, to a succeeded later by money stress due to tail ot values, which the war raised above norma!. In face of this, why should not returned men have decent sections now, so that they can clear and fence and drain them, and taking advantage of the coming prosperity prepare themselves for the later stress whicn might otherwise ruin them at the start 'i
With regard to 'Tanner's" wail regarding shortage of labour, there are thousands of foreigners in New Zea.and who are refused by the military through their nationality. Why shouitl they not be placed at "FarmerV' disposal, at the military rate of pav while the war continues? Some of them wuld also be kept busy clearing sections, to be ready for occupation by the sons of "Farmer" and others on their later return. Enemy aliens should be conscripted for labour, aa Mr Green suggests. "Farmer's" selfish views are clearly displayed in his sentence about "my teams"! His labour troubles come before the welfare of htmdreds. of course!— Yours, etc.,
