ELLESMERE.
Tho monthly meeting of the KUesmcrc County Council was attended by Councillors J. Cunningham (chairman), J. S. Boag, J. Storry, J. I*. McEvedy, F. J. Lemon, and James Quigley. Tho North Canterbury Hospital pr.d Charitable Aid Board notified tho Council that its levy for the. current year would be £2230 7s. The clerk yas requested to obtain farther information relative to tho' proposed expenditure. Mr W. J. Wylie forwarded ail assessment of damages he had Buffered through n 'destroyed boundary fenco between a College reserve held by him and a reserve owned by tho Council, ft was decided to seek further information on the matter. Mr John McCrory, Chertsey, claimed £40 for an acre abinglo reserve on his land at Little Rakaia. The oh airman of works and riding members undertook to make an inspection. The Springs County Council agreed to rapport an application for subsidy towards the cost of repairing the Selwyn traffic bridge and laying a-coat of asphalt on the deck. It was reported that the metalling of tho Brookside-Dunsandel road had been started. The clerk waa authorised to place arj. order for 20 bushels of poisoned wheat for the destruction of small birds. In response to an application made at the previous meeting by Meosrs F. B. Clausen and A. "W. Green, on behalf of the Lees ton and Doyleston Technical Classes Committee, it was decided to vote £10 to ioster technical training under the committee's auspices.
