DAY OF INTERCESSION.
SERVICE IN THE CATHEDRAL. In the Christchurch Cathedral today, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., a service of intercession will ho held, in which the ministers ef many denominations and ftlpo laymen will be associated with his Lordship the Bishop of Christchurch and the Anglican elergy. Tho service will be one of solemn prayer and intercession for tho safety of the Empire, and though no set procodure haß been laid down there will bo an uninterrupted series of prayers and devotional exercises for the whole twelve hours. His will take the opening part of the servfce, and also the conclusion—between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., when a thanksgiving service will be held. As the occasion is an historio one, business men and employers have been asked to grant special leave to employees in orderly rotation, B o that all can have an opportunity of attending somo part of tho service without at any time unduly taxing tho accommodation m the Cathedral:
