Senator Pearco has announced that parents' consent to cnablo youths und<nr the age of 21 to enlist is not now required. Recruits may enlist a t eighteen, but will not bo sent into' camp until six months later. Tiey will bo embarked as soon as possible, but will not be allowed in tho firing line until thev reach tho age of nineteen. MYSTERIOUS BUSII TRAGEDY. (Received Mny C,th, 11.40 p.nj.) SYDNEY, May. 6. A mysterious bush tragedy is reportod from tho mountains. David Joel and his wife arrived at the Wcntworth Falls on April loth. They ' i room in a hotel, an J in the evening went for a walk. Fivo days later tho ; woman was found in tho bush several miles away unconscious, almost naked, ' and badly bruised. Subsequently sho succumbed. No traco has been found of Joel.'
