HOSPITAL EXPENDITURE.
The City Council received a letter last evening from tho' North Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board forwarding statements showing tho csti- | mate of its receipts and expenditure, ! and the apportionment of tiie lew upon tho contributing local authorities for the year 1918-19. The total lew was £43.215 2s 2d, of which tho Ohrist- , church City Council's allocation was | £13,376 6s Id. The requirements for capital purposes had been cut down as low as possible, the letter stated, the I following being tho requirements:— Nurses' Homo extension £'6400, chimney for boiler house £5()0, morgue £1700, fire prevention £200, laundry extension £1150, and machinery £270, new hospital block £1500, Kaikoura Hospital £600, Sanatorium £250, country maternity hospitals £2009, tree planting £125, and maintenance quirements. - The letter stated that half of the capital expenditure. £13,660, would bo met by Gorernment subsidy. I t was stated that the amount required from the Council showed an increase of £1897 5s 9d oil the previous year. The letter was "received."
