THE "WEEKLY PRESS."
One of the best war numbers of the last four years is the issue of the "Weekly Press'! that comes out to-day. Its illustrations cover a lot of war subjects as well as giving portraits of the' famous men who took part in the nego- j tiaLions that removed llussia from the conflict. In one picture arc the German. Austrian, and Turkish representatives at the Brcst-Lito'vsk Peace Conference, in another Leon Trotsky, the head of the Bussian .delegation to the same conference, and in a third Russian leaders opposed to the Jioisheviki. An interesting set of engravings shows the great precautions Italy has " taken to protect her art treasures from the aeroplane bomb, and ,ii a way suggest'the immunity the Dominion has no far enjoyed from such attacks. ' Pictures of the heavv guns oeing moved on tlie Western front ;;re valuable •as indicating gome of the progress of military science, • as well as depicting the herculean work of our gunners. . Many a home in New Zealand will be pleased to see the illustrations of the patrol boats and of the training of the Jans! for the Navy, on which, as a bulwark '• of the 'Empire, so much depends, anil to the women folk equally interesting will be the c-r.pjavings relating to their work, including one of the Queen's inspection of the Women's lleserve Ambulance. There are many more attractive pictures, some from Mesopotamia and Palestine, where the A?-. Res continue to progress, and from' America, who is rapidly increasing her mditary and numerical strength at fchej front.
