RAETIHI RELIEF.

At the .last meeting of the Hac.tihi Fire Relief Committer, all the moneys, assets, and liabilities of the committee were transferred to the Waimarino Kelief Association, Incorporated. Tho new association was inaugurated on the recommendation of Mr W. Ferguson, chairman of the National Kfficiency Board, in order that there might be legally constituted corporate, body, to deal with the large sums which the Government was granting in subsidy and on ioan. At the first meeting of the incorporated association, Mr T. A. Harris, solicitor, of Raetihi, was elected chairman.
Up to date the sum of £0000 lias been | received in cash donations from tho j public. Of this sum, £3000 has been expended on tents, beds, bedding, etc., and ail requiring relief in the shape of shelter and clothing have had their wants supplied.. The machinery for the distribution of funds is now Completed. Careful investigation is heing made into all claims, and the distribution of cash grants in all deserving cases will bo proceeded with immediately. It is anticipated that between 300 ajid 350 claims will be dealt with. j
