I * AN'NUAL MEETING.
' The annual- mooting of tbp Christchurch Domain Board was held on Friday, Mr H. J. iieswick preeiding. Mr Beawick was re-elected chairman for the ensuing year. The Albion-Addir.gt-on Football Club applied for the use of its ground iu the South Park. A complaint was mad© that, the club had not been fairly treated in regard to the : ground at tho Hospital Corner, which it had occupied for a long time before it had been improved. The club had spent a good deal of money improving the ground. The -secretary eaid iho club had bcon granted a ground near tho Saleynrds. It had bee-u decided that football should lict .be played at Hospital Corner. : The matter waa referred to the Sports Committee, with power to act. The following committees were elccted: — Finance: Messrs H. J. Beawick, H. Holland, J. Brown, A. Freeman, G. Harper, J. Jamieeon, M. B. Wright, and W. H. Cooper. Gardens : M-easra H. J. Berwick, H. Eagleeome, G. Harper, J. Jamieson, L. Long-ton, C. D. Morris, A. Freeman, K: F. Stead, S. A. Orchard, and Capt. Owlcis. Sports: Messrs H. J. Beewick, J. Brown. J, Longton, J. McCullough, E. F. Stead, S. A. Orchard, W. J. Walter, and W. H. Winsor. Tho annual statement of receipts and expenditure showed receipts amounting to £551G 163 lOd, end expenditure £4789 19s sd, leaving a balance on March 31st of £674 13s lOd, and £52 3s 7d in tho A. R. Inwood trust. The balance- of assets over liabilities was-£2414 lis. The balance at the bank at April. 30th. was £396 7s 7d, with outstanding rates £32 ICa.
Tlio Curator's report detailed the work at present in progress, which included tho extension of the avenue to the east bridge, the ploughing and levelling of tho children's playground. Tlio potatoes had. been, all lifted, and over fifty tons obtained. During the next two months the Carlton corner would to renovated, the levelling of 14 acres in the South Park, and the fprming of for>tpaths in the ploughed areas carried out. The polo pavilion was in a dilapidated state, and the football sheds in the North Park needed attention.
Mr W. J. Walter suggested and Mr W. H. Winsor eupported, the idea of augmenting toe employees' wagee. Mr Winsor moved in tho direction of increasing the war bonus to 10 per cent, all round. Mr Walter moved an amendment that a minimum wage of lis per day be paid.
The amendment was lost and the motion carried. It was also decided to increase- the Curator's salary by £25 per annum, and the secretary's by 10 per cent, as a war bonus.
