RACING AND TROTTING | NOTES. (Br ••Searchlight.") The New Brighton Trotting Club will hold its Autumn Meeting.'to-day, and judging by the good fields and class of horses engaged, the racing should be quite up to Hie high standard of past years. Tho principal attraction will bo the fifth contest for tho New Zealand Trotting Derby. Although the field is small, the quality of tho candidates engaged is good, and the race should lio full of interest. The recentrain will no doubt leave tho track a trifle holding, but even so the going should be good. Tlie first race will start at U.SJO a.m., and during tho day a frequent tram service will bo run to and from tho course. A. Pringle anircd yesterday from Ashiiurtou to fulfil liis engagements at the New Brighton Meeting. Succory, a member of his team, will not start -it the meeting. The two trotting events to be decided at the Marlborough Racing Club's Autumn Meeting havo not drawn large fields. The only local-trained horses engaged are li. A. Pearee's Culverdcn and Agasenia, and R. Allan's -Miss Lorna. The recently-sold Dillon Direct is now an inmate of R. AV. Franks's stable, and it? likely to sport silk at Ashburton nfcxt week.
