It is stated that the Union, has rccoivod a communication from the Minister of Public Works conveying his opinion of the strike and the stand ho is going to take. -This letter -will bo brought up at a meeting of the Union to be held to-morrow. It has beOn the custom for the men on the works O leave a day's pay in hand to cover the cost of theit. lamps, should they carelessly break them. As a rule this pay was not touched unless the men left, but to-day, which was pay day, all the men drew their full pay and liahd&d ill their lamps.
