COMPENSATION CASE.
. • (PRESS ASSOCIATION* TELECRAII.) NELSON, March io. \ Compensation Court, composed of Mr Justice Chapman and two assessors, concluded to-day the hearing of the case Richardson v. the City Council which aroused much local interest. The corporation two years ago acquired under the Public Works .Act pieces of land on the banks _or the Slaitai river for bathing and picnicking purposes, being portion, of the Maitai estate, for which. the owners nonclaimed compensation. The claimants assessed the value of the land and condensation under several headings at £6863 16s 6d. After a lengthy hearing, the Court awarded claimants £995. Mr M. Myers, with him Mr Hayes, appeared for the claimants,'and'Sir John Findlay, K.C., with him Mr E. B. Moore, for the City Council
