SHORTHAND EXAMINATIONS.

♦ The Director.of Gilby's College has received advice from Sir Isaac Pitman' and Sons, Melbourne, that, at a shorthand speed examination held at the College in November last, the following students' were successful in gaining certificates:—l4o words per jninute: Gladys Sewell and Gertrude Gibbons; 110 words per minute: Stella M. Munday, Eileen Horan. Elsie Booker; 100 words per minute: Lizzie Dobeon, Vera Farrer, Annie Hart, Margaret Hayman, Annie P. "Williams, Murnie Wilson, Clarice Wood, Winifred Woodhead, and George A'icholls; 60 word 3 per minute: Theo. Bolton, Moana Garrett, Marjorie Legh. At an examination for speed certificates in Gregg Shorthand, held in December, the following pupils of the Normal District High School were successful:—loo words a minute: Dorothy Shelton and Freda McColl; 90 words a minute: Olive Derrick and Arthur Clayton; 80 words a minute: Gladys Rhind, Muriel Moir, Doris Marriot, Mavis Baty, Elsie Eeed, and Richard Hitchings; 70 words a minute: Eileen Callaghan and Ethel Ayling.
