A report was received at a meeting the Council :of the YictorianTemperanco Alliance that the Federal Government were considering a proposal to form a wine pool, and that the Federal Alliance Council had been communicated with on the matter. It was decided to write to the Prime Minister, protesting against the proposal on the ground that the wine industry was "too insignificant to receive such consicteration." as its exports, wero only l-700th..part of the total exports of the Commonwealth, its total production only l-40th of the value of the wheat grown, and l-60th of the wool production. Further, it was assumed that the pool was suggested with a view to making it possible to export wine, and if such was the case the Council was strongly of opinion that the commodity might well stand aside to make room in tho ships for necessary foodstuff* »• — • —' -
