NOTES FROM CAMP AND FIELD. (from our own correspondent•) LONDON, May 15. Lieut. Lord Burghersh, R.N., formerly of H.M.S. New Zealand, has been appointed to Dartmouth College. Second-Lieuts. M. W. C. Sprott, M.C. (Norfolk Regiment), and F. _ E. Miles (the 1913 N.Z. Rhode:- scholar) (Gloucestershire Regiment), have been promoted lieutenants. Midshipman Mervyii Somerset Thomas, second son of the Piofessor of Music at Auckland University, lip had the honour of being one of the cadets from Dartmoutn appointed to the flagjship Queen Elizabeth. Private C. S. Jacobscn, late G-GSS, who transferred to the R.N.R., has a commission as sublieutenant. A good many New Zeakndcrs are being transferred from the N.Z.E.L 1 . for duty with Royal Flying Corps. A late list contained the following names: —Corporal Ralph Arundel Stedmau, Sapper Trevor Watts White, Qihuter-master-Sergeant Frederick James Horrell, Trooper Alexander Cleveland McArthur. . Two New Zcalantiers in the R.Iv.C. at present quartered at Shoreham are Second-Lieuts. F. J. Sbarland (Auckland) and H. F. S. Drewitt (late of Christchurch). Second-Lieut. B. G. Blunt (an old boy of Christ's College) is in France with the 132 nd Heavy Battery, R.G.A. Captain J. E. H. Mewett, 2nd A.1.R., has left the 3rd London General Hospital for Brockenhurst. A gunshot wound lias necessitated the amputation of the right hand. Second-Lieut. H. S. Richards (Rangiora), Essex Regiment, who was recently wounded, is in hospital at Brighton. Lieut. AY. H. 3>. Bell, King Edward's Horse (Wellington), has been promoted captain. Mr A. C. Curtiss (Christchurch) is a petty officer in H.M.S. Campania. Lieut. E_. E. Booth, N.Z.E.F., odo of the famous original All Black Fifteen, has revisited Cardiff. To the "Western Mail" he expressed the opinion that "professional Rugby has failed completely in New Zealand, and has only made headway at Sydney, in Australia. The bulb of the people at the Antipodes are absolutely wedded to amateurism in sport."
