Prime fat cattle sold at the previous week's rates, but rough and unfinished sorts were easier. Thero was practically no chango in store sheep, forward wethers and ewo hoggets. A small entry of fat lambs made lato rates, the quality being mostly medium and light. Fat sheep were very firm, tho market opening above export value, but eased a little towards tho. end. Pigs mot with a good sale. There was a good demand for store cattle. STOIIE SHEEP. Tho yarding of store sheep was the smallest for several months past, and was made up of about equal proportions of ewes, wethers, and hoggets. The quality was chiefly medium. There was a good demand for forward wethers and ewe hoggets, and a lino of tho latter, out of merino owes, made 29s lid. Other descriptions sold at about lato rates. The following was tho range of prices: —• Two-tooth owes, to 34s 6d. Four and six-tooth owes, to 32s 2d. SLs-ond eight-tooth ewes, to 31s. Sound-mouthed ewes, 17s to 34s 6d. There was a large entry, a good proportion being two-year-olds, and there was a largo line of four-year-old str.don bullocks in backward condition. There ■was a good demand at tho following rates:— Yearlings, £2 3s. Fifteen to eighteen months, £3 10s. Two-year steers. £6 15s. Two-year heifers, £6 ss. Three-year steers, £9 to £11 123. Three-year hoifors, £9 2s 6d. Three and foux-year steers, £11 to £13 18., 6d. Three and four-year heifers. £10 10s. Dry cows, £4 to £8. DAIRY COWS. The entry of dairy cows showed a falling-off in numbers, and, as far as appearances went, in quality also. Thero was a good enquiry for young springers. Backward sorts brought £5 to £8, and better cows to £14 and £16. PIGS. A medium entry of fat pigs sold well tinder keen competition.
