REPRISALS.
TO THE EDITOB OF "THE PRESS." Sir, —There is considerable correspondence going on. in your columns about retaliating on the Germans for raids on England, and the murdering of women and cluldren. Unfortunately, tho correspondence "will not influence those in power at Home, for tho general trend of the correspondence appears to be in favour of reprisals. Js it not tho cl.t.tt duty of those in power to use every available means to protect the lives of women and children and other non-combatants? If wo use gas because tho enemy does so, I fail to sec why we should not do other things oqually barbaTous. In "Vive la Franco 1 ' E. A. Powell writes of a raid ( on Karlsruhe. It appears to have been most Effective. Tho destruction of Cologne Cathedral, though much to be regretted, would possibly lead to good results. The bombing of Berlin ; would bo better. —Yours, etc.. _ A. W. STEELE. Tckamo'i Juno 23th.
