BRITISH TRADE METHODS.

TO THIS EDITOR OF "iltE nUoS."

! gjr. j have read with interest th© editorial avticlc ia your issue of Juno 19th, under the heading "Trade After the "War " If vour informant cares to place before mo the full particulars regarding the order for carburetters I shall he glad to take the matter up with tho firm at Home, through the Imperial Board of Trade. I need hardly say that I am at. all times anxious to hear of any grievances which firms hero may have regarding transactions with firms at Home, and to do what I can to secure redress. With reference to the general tenor of your article, I may say that, having in "mind the largo amoust of- business which is done by Home firms with New Zealand compared with that done byother countries, it is not unreasonable to supposo that grievances might bo more numerous in tho case of British transactions than in the case of foreign. I do not think, however, _ that- it fo'llows that as a body British manufacturers are less capable of conducting their business to tho satisfaction of their customers than are the manufacturers of other countries. lam afraid that many people are disposed to think that this is the case. The truth_ is probaoly to be found in the explanation I have given: that because the transactions from Home are more numerous, the possibilities of complaints arising are greater.—Tours, etc. R. W. DALTOX, His Majesty's Tra >e Commissioner, j ■Wellington, June 25th.
