POULTRY, PIGEON AND CANARY CLUB.

THE RIXG QUESTION.

A meeting of the Chriatchurch, Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Club waa held last night, Mr E. J. Rosa presiding over a good attendance.

Mr Arthur Smith resigned the position of president, which wag accepted with resrot, and Mr E. J. Boss was elected ill hfe place. The Christchuxch Canary Club gave a further list of valuable special cash prizes for competition at the Jubilee Show. Mr A, R. Pengelly offered a special prize, Talued at two guineas, for the most points in the canary section. Mr L. Cocker gavo a. trio of white leghorns for the exhibitor scoring most points in -utility white leghorns. The meeting discussed at some length the business paper to be submittedat a special meeting of the South Island Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Association, in Chris tclrurch. Amongst the business waa consideration of the position -under rule 50, regarding the pigeon ring question. The rule provides that all pigeons under 13 mobUs old, competing in ringed classes, exhibited at affiliated snows, shall be ringed with a ring recognised by the Association for the current year. It is proposed to oonsider whether any action by the Association as regards recognising any. particular ring (or rings) for the current year, is necessary under this rule. seconded, that the club's delegate be instructed to vote for a. motion admitting nil rings dated 1916-17.

Mr A. Gapes moved, and Mr T. 11. Jonee seconded, na an amendment, that the dologate vote for tho original ring issued by tbo Association, only—the 'N.Z.D. • ring 1316-17.

On the suggestion of Mr A. Smith, tho amendment was added to to provide "that bona fide fanciers from Australia bo allowed to compete with their own rings, 1916-17." Mr Walker argued that to adopt tho amendment would have the effect of shutting out competitors from the Jubilee Show.

On a show of hands, tho amendment wae lost, and the original motion 'was agiecd to.
