RUSSIAN CAVALRY ASSIST

A Russian communiqne says:— "A strong enemy attack in the region of Wallerutna was repelled at tho point of the bayonet. "We pursued the enemy, a nd secured a height. "On the Roumanian front our cavalry twice rushed to attack enemy cavalry which was attempting to attack our retiring troops in the region of Buzeu. The enemy did not accept battle, but retired behind his infantry." ROLLING STOCK SEIZED. LONDON, December 17. A German communique states: — "General von ■ Mackensen crossed the Buzeu sector on a broad front and captured considerable rolling stock. "We pursued tho enemy in tho Dobrudia to the wooded district to the northward, where resistance is expected." . IN THE DOBIIUDJA. (Australian and N.Z. Cab la Association.) (Rsutar'a Tclegr^nu.) (Received December 18th, 9.40 p.m.) LONDON, December IS. A German official message says:— "Our army in the Dobrudja gained ground to the north. "German seaplanes bombed Russian warships at Sulina, at the mouth of the Danube." THE GRAND DUKE NICHOLAS. PETROGRAD. December 17. The Roumanian retirement is being conducted under tho Grand I>uke Nicholas's advice, the Grand Duke having taken over the command of operations in Roumania.
