THE ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION.
• ALL, DIFFICULTIES SETTLED. THE AURORA TO SAIL TO-MORROW. (SVKCIAL TO "THE rRE3S.") WELLINGTON, December 18. The Hon. Dr. McNab left for tho £>nuth to-night with Sir Ernest Shackleton, who is going to Port Chalmers to join the Aurora. The ship will sail on Wednesday morning, and Sir Ernest Shackleton will go on board. It, has been common knowledge for many weeks that there were delicate negotiations in progress regarding the relief expedition, but these negotiations were successfully ended to-day, when Dr. McNab, after consultation with Sir Erneet Shackleton, addressed to him a letter containing his proposals, and in an hour or two Sir Ernest Shackleton communicated his acceptance of them. This arrangement was ratified by Cabinet this afternoon. Captain Davis will navigate the ship, and Sir Ernest Shackleton will take charge of shore operations when the ship reaches her destination in the Rosa Sea. The negotiations have from the beginning been* extremely delicate, but everybody concerned has displayed commendable tact, with the happy result above stated.
