FANCY FAIR AT KAIAPOI.
RED CROSS AND LADY LIVERPOOL FUNICS. The patriotic efforts of the Kaiapoi public nave invariably been well supported, and the occasion of the monster fancy fair in aid of the Red Cros9 and Lady Liverpool Funds arranged by Mrs Reay aud tier concert _ partv and held in the Kaiapoi Domain, on Saturday afternoon owed its succc.'vi to the determination of the local public to see the war through, and tlic organisation of Mrs Reay and her band of helpers, with Miss I. Richards as honorary 'secretary.'Saturday's proceedings began very early by preparations being made in the Domain for the respectivo stalls. For these there were handsome contributions in I'ancv goods, confectionery, and garden producc. In collecting the latter, the pupils of the borough school prompted by the teaching staff, obtained good results. The day was net held as a holiday by the shops, but the townspeople and numbers of persons from the country in'adc a gala "of the occasion. The lirst event was the proccsskm at 1.30, which included the Band of the 13th Regiment, under Lieutenant-Bandmaster C. Hoskin, decorated car-.-- and cycles, and various fancy costumes. ' On arrival afc the Domain the Mayor, Mr J. H. Blaekwell, in a few interesting remarks, opened the fair, and the stall-holders wore soon very busy selling their wares. The stalls and stall-lioldcrs were as follow :—

Stan-' ton, Mcßobie, Thome, and Mrs Alexander. _ Sweets stall: Misses L. C. Watte, F. Holland, N, Young, and E. Foster. Ice-cream stall: Mieees V. Papprill, M. Meadowcroft, and F. Meadowcroft. Soldiers' atell: Misses M. McGregor, K. Parnham, H. Pearce, and I. Richards. Flower stall: Misses B. Wylie, G. TVy'.ie, Tourell, and Blakeley. Produco stall: Mra AtcLauphlan, Mi£K» Mcintosh, G. Mcintosh, Harding, an<» Brocklehurst. Tradesman's Cart: Misses P. Parnham. HParnham, and D. Gray. Peanut cart: Misses Featherstor.c and "* Kissling.
