CHRIST'S COLLEGE CADETS.
CAMP AT ASHLEY GORGE
The Christ's College Cadets. to tho number of 220, under Captain Farthing. arc having their annual camp at. Ashley Gorge. The camp is vsituated on a level field belonging to Mr Higginson at the approach to the Gorge bridge, and is well adapted for the purpose. The. tents, numbering about 10. make quite an imposing sight as one comes sudd<-uly upon them cither from Oxford or from Glcntui. The advance guard went up on Tuesday and pitched the camp, and tho main body arrived on Wednesday. A visitor to the camp is struck with the smartness of the cadets, their discipline, orderliness, and tidiness. The t.ent-s are a model of neatness; blankets and beds being in perfect order, with not a vestigo of litter, while the large stones which covered tho field have been collected and formed into a miniature fence. or boundary round each tent, the number of each platoon or tout being marked with small stones. The cooking galley is below one of tho terraces and wc.l] sheltered, and tho performances of the cook arc said to be excellent. A band, twenty-eight, strong, discourses mnsie on appropriate occasions, while, the C.E.M.S. has a largo commodious marquee, in charge of Mv Strafhey. where ample provision is made for the entertainment of tho young soldiers. Yesterday aftcraoou the camp wa* open to visitors.
