BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL CADETS.
4 THE CAMP AT RACECOURSE HILL. On approaching the residence of Captain D. McMillan, of Pauri Bank, Racecourse Hill, one is struck with the business-lik© air and the very tidy appearanoe of the Ohristohurch Boys' High School camp. An od- : v&noo party under Quartermaater-Sorgoant Hicka went out on Tuesday to prepare for the main body, who journeyed to Racecourse Hill by train on Wednesday morning under Captain J. R. Montgomery. They found tha tenia all pitched and everything in roadincsa for their reception. The instructor*! for the camp are Sergeant-Major6 Found and Ken- . nedy, and tho school officers, Lieutenants L. , G. Whitehead and T. L. Rantin. Owing to . tho absence of a cricket team from tho ! school the number in camp is smaller ♦Lan i vraß oxpoctod, the total being 150. j Rain began to foil early on Wednesday j evening', and it seemed aa though the boys | ■were to have a wet reception. Hqw©vor, the j camp was excellently equipped, "and the rain was of only very short duration. A I notable feature of the camp is very xoomy j mess tent, kindly lent by Mr J. C. Adams on behalf of tho Church of England Men's Society. Besides providing a covering for meals, it is most useful for meetings and evening amusements The camp ia connected with the telephone, and can be communicated with through Captain McMillan, j Already a good stretch of the River Haw- ; V-ina has been dammed for bathing purposes, i and there is little doubt this will be much i appreciated. Parents and friends will bo j plea«ed to know that tho boys are enjoying 1 j good health and arc in the best of spirits. Tho camp is indebted to Captain D. Mc- j Millan (of the Malvern Mounted Rifles) and ! to Mrs McMillan for numerous conveniences, ' and through whom all correspondence should ; be addressed.
