GROWERS' COMMITTEE
CONFERS WITH MINISTER
A meeting of the Woolgrowers' Committee was held yesterday afternoon for the purpose of discussing various matters in connexion with tho wool purchase scheme with tho Ijjon. W. D. S. Mac Donald, Minister of Agriculture. The subjects brought under the notice of tho Minister included contracts for sale and purchase of wool prior to the Government's proposal coming into force, tho arrangements made with the local woollen mills for supplying their requirements, and the appointment of arbitrators and their _ remuneration, and other matters of which woolgrowers will be advised at a later date.' The Minister stated that in regard to insurance, the wool would bo insured by the Government as soon as it was placed in store; and that payment would be made to growers fourteen days from completion of valuation. _ At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr George Gould thanked Mr MacDonald for attending and imparting fnll information regarding thxj operations of the Government scheme. In the House of Representatives Mr Hughes announced that the whole of the wool clip which had not been auctioned up to November 23rd had been sold to Britain on a basis of 15J d per pound for greasy wool.
