PAPARUA. All the. members were present at the last meeting of the Paparua County Council, and Mr Jaines Leslie presided. The District. Health Officer wrote w/th reference to an alleged nuisance at Weodone. The clerk detailed particulars of what had beeif done in the matter, and his action was approved. Mr George Witty,' M.P., wrote regarding water supply for land at Avonhead, and also in respect to the proposed site for a, post office at Sockbuiu. The clerk waa instructed to reply regarding watei-raco that an extension of the existing race would bo granted, but no guarantee of a permanent supply could be given, and, with respect to the post office site, to forward particulars. The Public AVorka Department wrote etating that the Department had paid £30 into the Nation.-l JJank, such sum being the amount agreed upon towards a shingling contract. The CVancii passed the neceisarv resolution making a. by-law with regard to tho issue of motor clii.-ers' certificates. The clerk was appointed motor inspector. Tho Councjl passed a. vote of thanks tt> the Company and, also to Mr Leslie for the vaJuablo assistance rendered, members expressing the opinion that few of the general publio know the difficulties experienced in keeping up a fairly regular supply of water. Considerable discussion took place on the methods followed at cleaning time, but full consideration was held over for tho present. It. The clerk reported that the credit at the bank amounted to £1656 6s 2d, which, on the passing of the pay-sheet, would be' reduced to £485 8» 10d. Mr James Leslie was re-elected chairman, and thanked members for their whole-hearted support during the past year.
