Interesting first-hand cvidenco concerning the habits and prospects of the natives of the Pacific Islands under the control of the Commonwealth was tendered last -week to the Australian Interstate Commission "T>y the Her. In answer to questions, witness added that experience showed that natives on an eighthour system did more work in eight hours than when ten hours were worked, and that no ill effects had followed the introduction of Asiatic labour to tho islands.
