THE FALLEN AND WOUNDED.
PEKSONAL NOTES. Private David Hampton (killed) was the eldest son of Mr D. Hampton, Rata street, Riccarton. He was born in Christchurch, and wa s educated at the Sydenham and Culverden schools. Up till the time of his enlistment with the Fourteenth Reinforcements he was assisting his father on his sheen run at the Culverden homestead. He was a keen sport, and took a great interest in all local affairs. He was 20 ycar s of age at tho time of his death. Mr W. Fraser, of Avonside, received advice last night that his son, Trooper Robert F. Fraser, hwd been admitted to the Rouen Hospital on November L'2nd, but" his illness had not been diagnosed. Trooper Fraser left with tho Main Body in the 3rd Canterbury (Nelson) Mounted Rifles, and was in action against the Turks on the .Canal. Subsequently ho was transferred to the Army Service Corps. | Mr JT. McCosker, Riverside, has received cable advice that his son, Private D. McCosker, wJlo was wounded in the leg. had been sent to tho Conj valcscent Depot at Hornchurch. at the beginning of November. From a private letter received, Mr and Mrs Frank Gallop, of Scott street, Blenheim, learned of the death in action of their son, Arthur, who went away with the New Zealand Rifle Brigade. He was killed instantly by a shell on the loth of September, at a time when many of his companions fell. It is somewhat strange that 60 far Rifleman Gallop has only, been reported officially as "wounded." The writer of the letter stated that he had helped to bury his comrade, and had placed a cross above. Ins last resting-place. News has been received regarding the death of Sergeant F. D. Moss, son of Mrs D. Munro, Balfour terrace, Christchurch. Sergeant Moss had been serving in Egypt -with the Mounted Rifles, and it was thought that ho took a chill, which commenced his illness, which ended fatally. Sergeant Moss had taken part in some'exceedingly arduous operations, and was for two months I almost continuously in the saddle. I
