The people of the Gisbornc district have lately been canvassed for support for a project having as its object d*J' light saving by putting the clock o B one hour from November to March in each year without reference to what the rest of the Dominion may do. The proposal which originated with tho School Committees' Association, BaS received tho general support of sports bodies, public 6eocietic.s, etc., and has been affirmed by tho Borough Council, and step are to. be taken to set the scheme in motion. > If_ Government- raises insuperable barriers, it will be contended Gisborne's isolated position and climato renders the district peculiarly suitable for the experiment.
