RANGIORA FRUIT-GROWERS ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the Rangiora District Fruitgrowers' Association was held last evening. Mr E. Blackett presided. Mr W. J. Courtier, Government Orchardist, also attended. A copy of the suggested rules of the Association ;was received from the New Zealand Fruitgrowers' Federation, Ltd., and it was decided to defer consideration of them until the next meet, ing, to enable the members to peruke the rules at their leisure. A letter was received from the Minister of Agriculture in reply to the Association's protest against the importation of trees affected with root-kno£. The Minister stated that the question would be very thoroughly investigated before the commencement c* next season. A comprehensive report was received from Mr J. Longton. New Zealand's representative to the Australasian Fruitgrowers' conference. A copy of the schedule of the Dominion Apple Show, to be held in Dunedin, was received from tho Federation. Several members spoke very strongly upon tho fact that last autumn largo quantities of fruit wero taken from tho orchards in the vicinity of the Rangiora Racecourse, at tho time when tho Territorial camps wero being held on the course. A deputation, consisting of Messrs E. K. and J. C. Bamfield, T. J. Hughes, and M. Ormandy, was appointed to wait' on Captain Attwell with the object of avoiding a recurrence of tho complaint.
