Councillor Boyd moved that tho Port Chalmers Council be supported in* it* protest. He considered the bonus io be nothing less tnan a monstrous bribe. He knew tliat many of tne Civil Servants did not wish to take the bonus, feeling that it was wrong on the part of tho Government to give it. Councillor Ayers seconded the motion, which was eupporied by Councillors Lane, Paterson. House, and the Mavcr. Councillor McGru<>r moved an amendment, seconded by Councillor T.ouse, that the 'etter b. received.
