LAX CONTROL OF GIRLS.
(press association telegbah.) AUCKLANX>» November 17. Strong remarks regarding the lack of parental control of young girls were made in a case in the Police Court today, when it was alleged that a taxicab driver had been responsible for. ruining a number of girls whom ho gave joy rides to in his car. The probation officer said it wa« deplorable the number of ruined young girls in the city. He had met numerous cases where relatives had sought has aid for girls whom the Queaa street Friday and Saturday night parades had ruined. He advocated women police. The Magistrate said the age of consent -was the whole trouble. The question of the supervision- of girls waa certainly becoming prominent, and it made one think some action was necessary. In regard to the man referred to, the Magistrats advocated tar and feathers, and a good hiding.
