Captain B. M. Aldwell. lato of the New Zealand hospital ship Marama, ; has gone to Rotorua. Dr. P. A. Ardagh. who is going on. ; active service for twelve months, will ( leave Christehurch next Saturday for ! Awapuni Camp. Mr Bernard Page, Wellington City ! Organist, was taken ill last Saturday, I and though his condition ca-used some' anxiety for a few days, ho is now reported to be progressing well. Mr Frank N. Lawrence, A.T.C.L., who has been organist at St. Andrew's Church for tho last live years, has been appointed to the dual position of organist and choirmaster. The Hon. G. W. Russell, Minister of Internal Affairs, left forDunedin by the midday express yesterday. Mr Russell expects to return on Wednesday, and will go through to Wellington the same day. Miss Marie Fix, of Wellington, has joined the Allan Wilkie Shakespearean Company in Melbourne, and she took 1 the part of tho widow in "The Taming of the Shrew" lately with, great success, the song "Should Ho Upbraid" being introduced into the part for her. Mrs G. S. Lavie, of Fendalton, has been advised that her cousin Dr. jatic Gairdner, It.A.M.C.. who was recently awarded the Croix dc Guerre and D.5.0., for conspicuous bravery, was shot by a sniper, the bullet passing through his chest. He is expected to recover.

The Rev. Alfred Richards, ricar of St. Scpnlehre's Anglican Church, Auckland. has resigned, and will proceed to England with Mrs Richards by the Jluahinc, leaving Wellington about tho end of December. Mr Richards curau to the Dominion five years ago from Australia, and accepted the position of vicar of the church at the invitation of the parish.
