0 HOPE OF CHKISTCHURCH LODGE. The Hope of Christ-church Lodge, LO.G.T, held ita monthly meeting last week in the Manchester Chambers, Bro. Ford, C.T., presiding. A vote of sympathy was passed to Sister Mardon on tie death of her father. Tho following officers were installed by the L.D. Sister Gunnell, assisted by Sisters Teague and Warburton as installing marehals: —C.T., Bro. H. Ford (re-elected); V.T., Sister Dwight, sen.; secretary, Bro. McFerran; assistant secretary. Sister M. Sweney; treasurer, Bio. Gunnell (re-elected); chaplain. Sister D. Kennedy; marshal, Sister L. Dwight; D.M., Sister Mills; G., Bro. Holland; P.G.T., Bro. Hampton; librarian, Sister Ford; registrar, Sister Black. WALTHAM SCHOOL COMMITTEE. At a meeting of the Waltham School Committee there were present:—Mr C. V. Harvey (chairman), Mesdamea Wilson and Besley, Messrs W. Wraight, A. Watkins, T. Mortlock, H. J. Williams, J. it. Forde, and R. B. Woodward. The headmaster's report stated that the average attendance during the last month was 631, with » roll number of 707. The Visiting Committee's report was very satisfactory, the school and grounds being in first-class condition. Before closing the meeting a motion of sympathy was accorded to Mrs S. P. Andrews, of Heathcote, in her recent bereavement. The late Mr Andrews had, since the opening of the Waltham School, been a very keen supporter of the institution, and his services were greatly appreciated. INSTITUTE OF PATENT ATTORNEYS. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Institute of Patent Attorneys held in Wellington, the following officers were elected ior the ensuing year:—President, Mr P. H, Climie; vice-president, Mr E. .P. O'Donnell; Council, Messrs G. W. Baslev, J. T. Hunter, E. S. Baldwin, C. C. Coates, and A. J. Park; and secretary, Mr S. H. Higgs. The annual report of the Institute mentions that, in accordance with the recommendation of the Institute. Mr Baldwin was appointed a member o£ the Board of Examiners for the admission of patent attorneys as prescribed in "The Patents, Designs, and Trade Marks Act, 1911." As a result of representations made by the Institute, the registrar ba« agreed to publish his decisions in opposed cases in the "Patent Office Journal" from the beginning of the present year. It was ■unanimously resolved ftat a donation of £10 10s be made from the funds of the Institute to the Red Cross fund subject to the.concurrence of individual mcmbera, which will no doubt be readily obtained. It was also resolved that a roll of honour be prepared containing the names of members and of their staffs who have enlisted ior service in the Expeditionary Forces, and all those who may subsequently serve.
