ME S. SHEARING
Deep regret was felt in the Islington district yesterday when it became known that 31 r Stanley Sherring had passed away at Blenheim. Mr Sherring was for a number of years employed on the cleric.! -luff of the New Zealand Refrigerating Company at the Islington works, and was very popular with all who knew him. ' Owing to illhealth he left the company some time ago and went to Blenheim. After improving for a time, he lately beeamo very ill, aim' was about to leave for his homo in E"';land in the care of his old fellow-employee, Mr Bromley-Smith (who has just returned invalided from tho front, and who was with Mr Sherring's brother, Lcn. when lie was killed at the landing in Gallipoli), when death came. Deep sympathy is felt for his mother, who has lost her husband and two sons within tho last two yea vs. Tho only surviving son is at present in Franco.
By the death of Mr Hciyy Spoer Wilson, which occurred a few days ago at Whangarei. another one of the few remaining pioneers of the North has passed away. Tho deceased gentleman. who was 79 years of ago, was intimately connected with the early days of the Whangarei district. Tho surviving members of his family are:—Mrs T. U. Wells (Auckland), Mrs Atkinson, whoso husband is District Surveyor m Napier, Mr«_W. Hockin, of Whancrnrci, Mr A. A. Wilson, of the firm of Wilson and Wilson, Whangarei, Mr Joint Munro Wilson, district valuer, Palmerston North, Mr H- S. Wilson, contractor, Auckland, and Mr Sclwvn Wilson, who is connected with the Valuation Department in tho South Island.
New Plymouth pnncrs * report the death at Tariki of Mr Jaoob Karalus, at tho age of eightv-threc years. Tho late Mr Karalus was well known on Banks Peninsula, having farmed at Lo Bon's Bay for .a number of years.
