AGRICULTURAL ARD PASTORAL LABOURERS. - ■■■ ♦ , MEETING OF UNION. A general meeting of the Nerr Zealand Agricultural and Pastoral Labourers' Union 'was held in the Trades Hall, Christchurch, on Sunday, Mr E. Kennedy presiding over a large attendance. The chairman introdiicod the general sccretaiy, Mr C. Grayndler, and said he was present to give a report on th© Wellington dispute and the result of the meeting with the sheep-owners in the Wairarapa district before the Conciliation Commissioner. Mr Grayndler said that no agreement was arrived at, nor did ho'oxpcot any. The Sheep-owners' Association offered 20s per 100 sheep, with a war bonus of 2s Cd per 100, with no increase for shed hands, precaerß*, or cooks, despite the fact that remits were sent in from hundreds of sheds demanding a minimum of 25s per 100 for shearing, £2 10s per week for shod hands, £3 per week for preaeers, or 7d par cut weight, or Is 3d per bale for all wool shorn and pressed, and £i per week for cooks cooking for 20* men or less. The employers' representative would not recede from the offer made of 22« 6d per 100. Mr Gravndler said some of the employers if not all cf them, were engaging men at the rates set down in the workers' demands, also that several sheep-owners were paying more/ than the rates asked for. After a long discussion the following resolution was carried unanimouely: "That this large and representative meeting of shearers, ebed hands, and cooks have resolved to make no engagements under the rates demanded in "Wellington, and will loyally rapport the manifesto sent out by the executive."
