ITALY AT WAR.
STEADY ADVANCE. PROGRESS AT SEVERAL POINTS. (By Cable. —Pross Association.—Copyright.) (Australian and N* Z Cablo Association.) LONDON, July 30. An Italian communique says:— "Wc shelled railway stations in the LagarVna Valley, and gained ground north-west of Mount Cimone. "The Alpini carried a position in the Tofana region. "Wo have begun to advance in the Travignolo Valley."
IN TRENTINO. CAPTURE OF MOUNT CIMONE. ROME, July 30. Prior to the capture of Mount Cimone the Italians sealed one point with ladders. Only twenty-six men penetrated the position, and the Jaegers massacred them, throwing some alive down ravines. Realising that a frontal attack was necessary, the Italians misled the Austrians by bombarding tlie Asiago plateau and Mount Pasubio. Tho Austrians. expecting an attack there, replied with a hurricane of tire. Meanwhile a hundred Italian guns wore concentratcd on Mount Cimono for twelve hours, and it 'was then stormed. ITALY AND GERMANY. DECLARATION OF WAR. URGED. NEW YORK, July 30. A mossace from Rome states that tho majority of the newspapers dec l:;ro that Italy and Germany are now tho bitterest "enemies, and urge that Italy make an open declaration of war on Germany.
