CANTERBURY COLLEGE BOARD OF GOVERNORS.
A meeting of the Board of Governors of Canterbury College was held yesterday afternoon. Mr J. C. Adams was in the chair, and there were, also present: Bishop Julius, Dean Harpor, Messrs G. H. Opic, H. Boyd, T. Hughes. H. D. Acland, L. B. Wood, W. H. Montgomery, J. J. Dougall, S. H. Seager, T. W. Adams, "W. H. Brock, and A. E. Flower. J The chairman extended a hearty welcome to Mr J. J. Dougall, a new member of the Board. The action of the chairman in sending a letter of sympathy to the relatives of the late -Mr T. H. Jackson, of th e Boys' High School, was approved, and a resolution of appreciation of his work was passed, the members of the Board standing. Mr J. C. Adams then vacated the chair, and was unanimously re-elected chairman for the ensuing year. Mr H. D. Acland was elected deputychairman. It was reported that Professor Salmond had been elected the representative of the Professorial Board on. the Board of 'governors. Tho Mi'seuiii and Library Committee reported having approved of the expenditure of from £o to £7 ia obtaining the services of Mr Ciutcr, the Government Conchologist, for the purpose of identifying the new specimens of .New Zealand fossils in the Museum. The chairman had been asked to convev to Dr. lledman, of Picton, the thanks of the Board for his valuable donation to the Museum of a set of surgical instruments used at the batyle of Tiafalgar. The committee had authorised the sending of about 1000 works of fiction to the C-.D.C. for distribution amongst the various hospitals and camps. The report was adopted.
