It is reported that a naval engagement took place in the Baltic on Wednesday night. The indications aro that the Germans were repulsed. (Received July 21st, 10.5 p.m.) COPENHAGEN, July 21. A violent cannonading between Landsort and Gottska Sandoo was heard on "Wednesday night. A large German torpedo-destroyer was seen next morning steaming rapidly to the southward. It is supposed that the Russians "were pursuing the Germans, as firing was still audible in a more southerly direction. Firing was also heard near Suudsvall. Landsort is a lighthouse on tho Swedish coast. 60 miles south of Stockholm. Gottska Sandoo is a small island, 50 miles east by south of Landsort and 20 miles north of Gothland. Sundsvall is a timber port in Sweden, on the shore of the (%3lf of Bothnia. IN THE NORTH SEA. SUBMARINES AND ZEPPELINS SIGHTED. (Received July 21st, 9 p.m.) COPENHAGEN, July 20. Steamers arriving here report having sighted a large number of German submarines in the North Sea, apparently of a bigger and newer type. A number of Zeppelins -were also sighted.

NAVAL PRISONERS. BRITISH AND GERMAN CAPTURES. (Beutci's Telegrams.') (Received Julv 21st, 9.25 p.m.) LONDON, July 21. In the Houso of Commons, Dr. T. J. Macnamara, Parliamentary 'Secretary tof'the Admiralty, said that we had captured 136 German naval officers and 2078 seamen. The Germans had captured 45 British naval officers and 364 seamen.
