Mr Ashmead Bartlettfs statement that the Australian troops on Gallipoli included several millionaires is not borne out by a report from New South Wales, which was made available on Tuesday by Mr D. J. Quinn, secretary of the* Board of Trustees of the Repatriation Fund (says tbo Melbourne "Herald")- Soldiers' cards examined bv the War Council of that State show that 13 of the men who wish to settle on the land on their return have command of sums ranging from £1000 to £4000; 122 possess from £200 to £800 each; 200 have different amounts running to £170. Others have torses, machinery, or plant. Of the 17,000 soldiers from all parts of Australia who have so far expressed a wish to settle on the land at the close of tho war onetenth have declared themselves possessed of resources.
