EXPENSES OP THE PAST. • ' (special to "the TJIESS.") WELLINGTON, Juno 8. On Mr Anderson's request, the' folr lowing return of the salary, fees, afid travelling allowances of Dr. Purely, Director of Medical Services, up to July 21st, 1915, from August 4th, 1914,-wai presented to the House to-day: —Salaij (at £150 per annum) £135 9s Bd, Ci? aminatdon of recruits £759, Medjcll. Board fees on returned and invalid# soldiers £317,.consultation £208 175% inspection of hospitals £19 19s, inspection of troopships £15 15s, mileage use of own motor-car £54 14s 4d, trawling allowance and expenses £12 lCft miscellaneous £10 7s 6d, minor.fees £13 6s, total £1388 19s 4d. Of this sun £528 14s 6d was paid to other doctor! for examinations, the vouchers for which were in Dr. Purdy's name.* .Regarding the motor expenses, it is stated that twelve tyres were used with tho extra hard work involved by the war. Some 15,000 miles were covered on defence work. The charge made represented only one-third of the work done, as by the regulations no charge made for the run from Lower Hutt |0 Wellington. This return was demanded after the Trent-ham camp scared'£^4
