At the sales 1522 casks were offered, and 320 sold. Quotations: Beef, 40s to -ios; mutton, 49s to 4 is. Palgety and Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram Jrom their London office, dated June 7th: '•Tallow: At the weekly auction the demand was generally limited, mutton tallow being neglected. Good mixed sold at 17s per cwt." EXPORT OF BUTTER. (Received June Oth, 1.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, June S. The State Butter Control Committee has decided to entirely prohibit the export of butter, owing to the shrinkage of local supplies.

GERALDINE STOCK SALE. Tho entry for this week's sale, numbered about 4000 sheep, including 2000 fats. Having regard to condition, prices were about the same, as at recent sales. 1 Values were: —Fat lambs I<->s 3d to 25s Id, fat ewes lis 3d to 23s 2d, fat wethers 10s (id to 28s, two and four-tooth ewes 9s to 28s 7d, others (3s to Lis, mixed sex lambs 6s to 10s. The wool sales have been postponed iill tho 19th inst. BRISBANE, Juno 8. The wool sales will be held' next week. The Premier, after consulting tho authorities in London, cabled:— "Tho Wa r Offico is very anxious to make clear that it never contemplated that all the wool imported to Great Britain would be consumed there. It will, be distributed according to the needs of the Allies."

Tho. attorneys have received advice• that the directors of the New Zealand and River Plato Land Mortgage Company have resolved to pay an interim dividend for the half-year ended April '30th. at the rate of 12 per cent, per annum, less English income tax. Shareholders will therefore receive the usual amount of one shilling per share. The dividend will be payable in tho Dominion on July sth. '

TRODUCE REPORTS. (PBESS ASSOCIATION - TELEGRAM.} "WELLINGTON, June 8. The value of New Zealand products entered for export last week was £358,428. They included dairy produqo £42,038, meat £136,551, and wool £88,399. COMMANDEERED PRODUCE. A meeting of directors of fivo Woodvillo choeso factories was held on Wednesday. It had been called to consider the possibility of the Government commandeering next season's output, and resolutions were passed unanimously as fcllotvs: —"That wc, representatives of dairy companies in the AVoodville district, demand the right to be consulted in tho commandeering of produce for the coming season, each company to have the right of being represented individually or by proxy at any meeting for tho disposal of such produce; that in tho event of cheeso being commandeered, tho delegates insist that it be paid for within fourteen days of reaching tho grading,, store." FROZEN MEAT SHIPMENTS. Shipments of frozen meat from Auckland during May amounted to 3,296,926 lb, of which all was beef except 12,949 lb of veal. This quantity was more than three times tho shipments in May last year, and nearly four times tho quantity shipped in "April. The export during the past eleven months shows an increase of about 32 per cent, over that during tho corresponding period last season. The output of lamb decreased slightly, and the shipments of mutton have been less than half those of last season, while the export of veal and boned meat has been very much smaller. The production of beef, however, nearly doubled, and now amounts to 19,610,5631b, compared with. 10,532,5751b last season.
