CENSORSHIP CRITICISED

The Press devotes columns to eulogistic references to Lord Kitchener's work throughout the Empire.
The Allied Consuls join in the expressions of regret from all parts of the Commonwealth.
All flags are being flown at half-mast. An Army order has been issued directing the wearing of mourning. Sir Hay Frederick Donaldson. Technical Adviser to the Minister of Munitions, who was on board the Hampshire, was a brother of the present Archbishop of Brisbane.
The "Daily Telegraph" severely criticises the operations of the censorship in holding up the news of Lord Kitchener's death, which was known all over tho world, and placcs the responsibility on the Minister for Defence and the Federal Government, und<yr whose instructions the censorship acts.
The paper says : —"The policy 0 f suppressing one of the most important facts in relation to the war must irresistibly create a serious uneasiness in the public mind. When Parliament meets, some official notice should be taken of the manner in which the censorship is allowed to operate."'
